Summit Institute of Development (SID) is a non-profit research and service delivery organization committed to saving lives through the improvement in health and human development at the community level through participatory evidence-based decision-making and sustainable action.

 

What is THRIVE/OpenSRP?

Coordinated by WHO, THRIVE is a multi-site research located in Indonesia (Lombok), Bangladesh and Pakistan which produce an adaptable open source mobile health platform called Open Smart Register Platform (OpenSRP) that allows frontline health workers to electronically register and track the health of their entire client population.

 

What position we need right now?

  1. Project Coordinator

Responsibilities:

You will assist the primary investigators and to coordinate the project implementation and management, including day-to-day management of staff, execution of all phases, reporting and problem solving for the full length of the project. You will be responsible for training field staff, developing user manuals, and ensuring stakeholder engagement.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in public health or related discipline (pref. Masters Degree)
  • Experience working in epidemiology research is desirable and demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis, including the use of statistical packages (e.g. Stata, SAS)
  • Strong managerial experience, including demonstrated administrative, organizational, analytical, critical appraisal and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer and database skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Attention to detail and understand the importance of producing quality data
  • Report writing skills – fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Availability to travel internationally for extended periods of time (1-2 weeks)

 

  1. Field Coordinator

 

Responsibilities:

The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring smooth implementation of project and operations’ activities and adherence to logistic, human resource, administration and security procedures. At the regional/district level, the Field Coordinator represents THRIVE/OpenSRP to relevant stakeholders. Typically, the field coordinator reports to the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Substantial knowledge regarding the program management on field level
  • Substantial knowledge of standard logistics procedures and practices required
  • Good understanding of financial and HR procedures required
  • Excellent communication and representative skills (written, oral, cross-cultural)
  • Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations
  • Ability to adapt within the working environment
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a prerequisite.

 

  1. Research Assistant

Responsibilities:

Under the direction from the Principal Investigator, Chief Executive Officer of SID, and other Investigators of the study, assists the Field Coordinator and Tech Coordinator by performing planning, executing and overseeing the field implementation of the study, technologies performance, data collection process, tracking the project progress periodically and report it to the management, and identify areas of improvements and develop new methodologies to meet milestones.

Selection Criteria:

  • Holding at least bachelor degree in relevant field
  • Experience working in public health research will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis, including the use of statistical packages (e.g. Stata, SAS)
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical appraisal and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer and database skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Attention to detail and understand the importance of producing quality data
  • Effective communication skills

  1. Data Analyst

Responsibilities:

You will conduct full lifecycle activities to include requirements analysis and design, develop analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements on project implementations.

Selection Criteria:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a prerequisite
  • Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients (healthcare workers)

 

  1. Android and Java Back-end Developer

Responsibilities:

Your primary focus will be the development of OpenSRP applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be responsible for writing clean, efficient, and reusable code that can be released as open source software. The code you write will be deployed in multiple countries and used for public health research and service delivery. You will typically be creating Java web applications and software for the Android mobile platform.

Selection Criteria:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 1+ years of Java backend and web development experience in a professional setting is advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a prerequisite.
  • Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients (healthcare workers)
  • Preferable experience with Apache Maven, Postgresql, CouchDB or other NoSQLdatabases,and Spring Framework
  • Knowledgeable in creating documentation and UML diagrams
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with team members
  • Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients (healthcare workers)
  • Prior experience with open source software development on Linux is a plus
  • Prior experience working with MySQL or OpenMRS is a plus
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a prerequisite.
