What is THRIVE/OpenSRP?

Coordinated by WHO, THRIVE is a multi-site research located in Indonesia (Lombok), Bangladesh and Pakistan which produce an adaptable open source mobile health platform called Open Smart Register Platform (OpenSRP) that allows frontline health workers to electronically register and track the health of their entire client population.

 

We are seeking applicants for the following job positions:

Science Coordinator

Code : THRIVE – SC

Location : Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Chief Executive Officer, and Project Co-ordinator. Oversee the day-to-day OpenSRP application operations. Complete all associated project study and administrative duties to specified expectations and travels to various sites within a specified geographical area, as appropriate to the objectives of the study.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop weekly schedules within the team scheduling based on direction and work received by the Principal Investigator, Project Coordinator, Vice Coordinator, Field & Science Coordinator
  • Determine the weekly coaching agenda given to health workers using tablets with OpenSRP applications or other innovation technologies based on input from the field and Data Team
  • Create weekly coaching materials to health workers using tablets with OpenSRP applications or other innovation technologies
  • Cooperate with Data Team and Admin to prepare coaching materials
  • Provide training to coaching officers every week before going to the field
  • Together with the admin, recap the coaching feedback and recap summary of the coaching result by e-mail to the team every week at the latest 1 x 24 hours the result of coaching is accepted
  • Take an active follow-up to Tech Team based on technological findings / issues in the field and report to Field Team when the problem has been solved successfully
  • Ensure that feedback on tech-related field issues can be solved by Tech Team within the designated deadlines
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance of technologies adapted in the study by conducting intensive testing
  • Together with Project Coordinator, Vice Coordinator, and Field Coordinator designs the flow and tools for study activities
  • Conduct field research and literature on the concepts or modules required by the study. Example: vaccination stock flow and form
  • Provide the science materials required by the study. Example: MCL concepts
  • Create a mock-up design of the technologies to be adapted in the study
  • Conducting training on the technologies to be adapted and / or the flow and study tools that have been built
  • Provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator, Project Coordinator and Science Manager

Selection Criteria – You must have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in public health or related discipline (pref. Masters Degree)
  • Experience working in epidemiology research is desirable and demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis, including the use of statistical packages (e.g. Stata, SAS)
  • Strong managerial skill including administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong computer and database skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Effective communication skills
  • Report writing skills – fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English

Field Coordinator

Code : THRIVE – FC

Location : Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Job Description of Field Coordinator

Under the direction of the Project Co-ordinator, oversee the day-to-day operations of field including training and data collection tasks using interviewing techniques and protocols. Complete all associated project study and administrative duties to specified expectations and travels to various sites within a specified geographical area, as appropriate to the objectives of the study.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing research project – including training, data collection, data analysis and management of data collection tasks.
  • Collect, compile data, and conduct analysis of qualitative and quantitative responses to survey questions or other research data.
  • Conducts and record face-to-face and/or telephone interviews with subjects, in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Reviews and edits data to ensure completeness and accuracy of information; follows up with subjects to resolve problems or clarify data collected.

Selection Criteria – You must have:

  • At least bachelor degree in public health or relevant field
  • Preferable experience working in NGO
  • Having strong organization and managerial skill
  • Fluently both English and Indonesia

Programmer

Code : THRIVE – PG

Location : Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Job Descriptions Programmer:

You will be responsible for writing clean, efficient, and reusable code that can be released as open source software. The code you write will be deployed in multiple countries and used for public health research and service delivery. You will typically be creating Java web applications and software for the J2ME mobile platform.

You will be primarily responsible for local adaption of the THRIVE SRP project but will also include other informatics project involving software development and implementation in Indonesia. Software development work on the THRIVE SRP will bring you into contact with diverse open source communities and you will gain exposure to the way eHealth and mHealth solutions are developed from multiple international perspectives. As well as a competitive salary, this role comes with a range of benefits.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the core build of OpenSRP as well as the local adaptation, as indicated by registered code commits to the core platform.
  • Coordinate deep troubleshooting and issue analysis, as well as coding, testing and implementing software enhancements and/or applying patches.
  • Assist in the research, training and analysis of existing systems and program requirements; assist in preparing documentation to change existing programs/systems.
  • Design basic programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.
  • Assist in the completion of unit testing by preparing test data, running tests and evaluating results.

Selection Criteria – You must have:

  • At least 1 year of Java development experience in a professional setting
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Prior experience with open source software development on Linux is a plus
  • Prior experience working with MySQL or OpenMRS is a plus
  • Preferable experience with Apache Maven, Postgresql, CouchDB,
  • Knowledgeable in creating documentation and UML diagrams
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with team members
  • Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients (healthcare workers)
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a pre-requisite.

DATA ANALYST

Code : THRIVE – DA

Location : Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

We are looking for a passionate Data Analyst to turn data from the THRIVE OpenSRP field implementation into information, information into insight and insight into high-level project decisions and policies. You will conduct full lifecycle activities to include requirements analysis and design, develop analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements on project implementations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret data from the field, analyze the results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports on trends of OpenSRP uptakes across health workers, service coverage, etc.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality 
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Filter and “clean” data, and review performance indicators to locate and correct problems
  • Work closely with Science Coordinator, Field Coordinator and IT Coordinator to prioritize project and information needs
  • Locate and define new process for improvement

Selection Criteria – You must have:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in statistic, mathematic  or relevant field
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is a prerequisite.
  • Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients (healthcare workers)
